Gelato Time (ABN 93 161 427 934) ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through gelatotime.com.au, how we use it and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

Depending on how you use our site, we may collect:

  • Contact and order details: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, and what you order
  • Payment details: payments are processed by our payment providers. We don't see or store your full card number
  • Account details: if you sign in, your login email and order history
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, chat or social media
  • Sign-ups: your email address or mobile number if you join our email or SMS list
  • Device and usage information: your IP address, browser, device type, pages viewed and how you got to our site, collected through cookies and similar technologies

2. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you place an order, create an account, sign up to our list or contact us. We also collect some information automatically when you browse our site, and we may receive information from our service providers, such as payment and delivery confirmations.

3. How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • process, ship and support your orders, including pre-orders
  • send order confirmations, shipping updates and other service messages
  • reply to your questions and handle returns and claims
  • run, secure and improve our site, products and service
  • prevent fraud and misuse of our promotions, such as first-order offers
  • send you promotional emails or SMS, if you've signed up
  • measure and improve our advertising on platforms such as Meta, Google, Pinterest and TikTok
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

4. Promotional emails and SMS

We'll only send you promotional emails or SMS if you've signed up or opted in. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also email us to be removed. Unsubscribing won't stop service messages about your orders.

5. Cookies and tracking

Our site uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember your preferences, understand how the site is used and measure our advertising. This includes tools from Shopify, Google (including Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics), Meta, Pinterest and TikTok. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as the cart, may not work properly without them.

6. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business, and only as needed for them to do that, including:

  • our ecommerce platform, Shopify, which hosts our store and processes payments
  • payment providers, including Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • delivery partners, such as Australia Post and Sendle
  • email and SMS providers, such as Klaviyo and Omnisend
  • analytics and advertising providers, such as Google, Meta, Pinterest, TikTok and Zoho
  • our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information securely and in line with Australian privacy standards.

8. Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our store runs on Shopify, which encrypts payment information and meets PCI DSS standards. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it.

9. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing us. If you have an account, you can also update some details by signing in. We'll respond within 30 days.

10. Children

Our site is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

11. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please email us and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
